Rick B. Larsen
President & CEO, Sutherland Institute
Rick Larsen came to Sutherland with more than 30 years of experience in management, media, and public policy. A lengthy career in the nonprofit sector included roles as chief development officer for United Way of Salt Lake and president of Operation Kids Foundation – a global effort serving the needs of children. His early career included a decade in the entertainment industry producing award-winning content including family films and live events. He has provided strategic consulting to a wide range of endeavors including ballot initiatives, political campaigns and for-profit corporate social responsibility strategies.
He graduated cum laude from the University of Utah with bachelor’s degrees in political science – emphasis on public policy, and in family and consumer studies. His insights and policy analysis has been featured in The Hill, Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune and Utah Policy. He is a member of the AEI Leadership Council as well as the Advancement Board for the College of Social and Behavioral Science at the University of Utah.
